No, you will need permission from your local council. If you are in England, call up the council, and ask for the Street Lighting, or Street Furniture section, they should be able to sort out the legal side of this for you.

Next time I see a flier for some event stuck to the nearby traffic lights, I'm going to go and write "CANCELLED" on it with a big red pen.
Fly posters send out the wrong image about your business... make it look a bit like a dodgy outfit.

(I know that in my area, it is illegal to post for-profit items on electric, telephone and street light poles. Public Works Department uses digital camera to photo them, then removes them, finds the owner of the phone number or website, and issues $50 ticket for each one.)

it is not legal to put ads on lamp-posts but if you stick add to piece of board you can tie it to lamp-post
