Ok, so heres the deal... I woke up today to discover a very un savoury C word has been graffitied on our fence. I was at a neighbours house until 11:30 watching a movie..I saw our fence when I came home & there was nothing on it. I then got on Y/A for a bit- I heard a couple of kids running for their lives at around midnight. I took a look out side my window & saw where they went. My husband left for work just before 1am and noticed the graffiti...I think its pretty safe to say who did it. Another neighbour arrived home around the same time & saw the kids in question loitering around our property. Sorry for the long story, but my question to you is...
1. Do you report it to the police & wait for the consequences of what they will do to retaliate- or
2. Would you take matters into your own hands & deal with it which is what my hubby wants to do-or
3. Ignore it & hope it doesn't happen again?
I must add-we have never done anything 2 warrant a reason 4 this to happen.

firstly are the culprits local?would it better suit to talk to there parents?your caught here if you go to the police(not what i would do) your open for a come back,now if your husband is a well tempered man then a quiet word may do however if hes wanting to kick a** (like i would) then not a good idea are the kids approachable?could you maybe say to them in a nice way listen guys could you explain why you have done this?? (i know everything inside just wants to crack them)but if you approach it in a no threatening manner then it can be productive it might just give you a foundation to build on where by they leave you alone i wish i could give you a better answer its a hard one it could be a one off it could be the start of something if i was you i would talk to them first to get a footing then take it from there :)
(sorry i cant suggest a definite course of action go with your gut)

I would call the police. The kids will likely be too scared to get caught and won't retaliate.
If these kids are generally bad kids then you may want to invest in a good guard dog, security system, a motion sensor light, and/or a fence that is locked at night.

You should definitely call the police and make a record of what happened. Take pictures, too just incase more damage is done in the future (for the cops and for your insurance company). Don't handle this on your own...only bad things can come of getting revenge...

4, have a long talk with the kids parent's. explain that the kids were seen, and take pics. If the parents are worth anything, THEY will make sure the kids are handled, but then again, if they were worth anything as parents, i do not think the kids would have been out at midnight lol.

I would report it so you have documentation of the incident. If it happens again keep reporting. We had similar situation in our neighborhood and the cops started patrolling a little bit more often which put an end to it.

dont take it into your own hands. let the police see what they can do first. let me just say the police where i live are lazy and do nothing anways but i hope around your town they are better!!
if you take it in your ow hands it coukd get you into trouble.
i cant believe they would write something as discusting as that on your fence! there mothers would be very dissapointed!

Call the police and let them handle it. If anything happens to those kids you will be held liable. Now! if they come back after you have called and reported them...by all means get them little bastards!. Make them clean it all up.
