Yes defently. Model agencys don't generaly walk around looking for people they have models come to them. But now there have been times when models were discovered in malls and such, such as Tyra Banks. If I'm not mistaken she was discovered by someone. But please be careful there are a lot of creeps out there. Did they give you a business card? If so look them up on the web. But even then you can never be 100% sure. Be careful.

He sounds like he is purporting to be some kind of an agent or manager, which is unusual. He didn't claim to be a photographer? Some photographer's can be helpful in pointing models in the right direction, but typically are not going to take an active role in getting you into agencies. This doesn't sound like something very legit. You have to proceed very cautiously in any case, and don't give anyone any money in advance. Some photog's may offer to test with you or trade your time for prints or cd's. High end photog's will want to be paid.

Well my first impression is yes. However where I attend college there are a lot of scouts around and i've seen several people who have been stopped,my friend and I have been stopped before with the guy asking if we'd pose as a couple for a photo shoot. But he gave us a business card for the company that had sent him.As far as I know they don't work as individuals for a load of companies and then just point you towards the right one, they should send you straight there.I would see if you can get any background info on this guy,if you can't then don't trust him, every talent scout should be able to prove who they are.

Be very careful. Google him, try Facebook, ask for names of others he's helped. If you're not sure he's genuine, don't meet up with him anywhere but in a public place (not 'his office' or 'his studio') and not on your own - take an adult. His idea of modelling may not be yours - you want to be on page 3? If he asks for money before he finds you an agency or work then yes it's a scam.

Not really enough information given to really tell.
But it depends on the context of the situation.
If he was like just walking down the street and tells you, "omg you are so beautiful, has anyone ever told you that you should be a model??"
It could be a scam, either that or a creepy pick-up line.

Yes, it's probably a scam. Take someone else with you when you go visit this guy - preferably a parent or someone older and stronger. The guy could either want to hurt you or want money from you.

Sounds fishy to me. Did he give you a card? If not, I'd be careful. And anwhere they make you pay upfront for modeling, its a scam. You get paid for modeling, not the other way around.

Ask for his references and credentials. Ask to speak with other models who have worked for him. Ask him many many questions to find out if it is a scam. and don't go alone if you're going to meet with him! This guy could be some creep.

He's either real in which it's up to you to follow up with caution. Or you're so hot that he wanted your attention but was too shy to be real to you, in which it's up to you to give him a chance if you're interested in him. Or he's Ted Bundy Redux in which you must definitely run the other way. You're fourth choice is to forget the whole thing and move on.
