We're all hoping for progress. I'm hoping Kevin Rudd won't let me down. I'm hoping that we will actually sign Kyoto, I'm hoping that soon I will see better broadband infrastructure, I'm hoping my public hospital (which I'm going to soon for surgery, where my mother works as an underpaid nurse!!), and my public school (which I just graduated from) get the funding they need so badly...There are books in the science dept older than ME!! (18).

We're desperately hoping that work choices goes onto the trash pile where it belongs, and that we get our proper pay rates back. I hope that the minimum wage is raised, but not too much hope there. I'm hoping my rent will go dowsn to the levels it was under Keating, instead of up, and up, and up.

I have high hopes, for now at least.

I believe there will be changes socially - Labor has always championed fairness and equity. Economically i think things are going to get tougher - continued interest rate rises were inevitable no matter which party won - the slide of th US dollar and the chance of recession in the US are going to have major impact on economies around the world.
The Liberals themselves in the last few weeks before the election when the signs of economic pressures were looming threw their hands up and stated that the coming problems were out of their control.
This may end up being a good election to lose.
Having said all that i'm glad to see the end of a government that had become complacent, arrogant and full of their own self worth.

I hope we will follow in the footsteps of countries like sweden etc that are functional, healthy, prosperous , inclusive ,equal and fair.

I truly hope the decade of darkness that were the Howard years stays behind us and that we wil have a much less divisive and racist leader who can actually unite us and take us out of the dark ages, that we become something more than just a faceless economy.

Doubt very much we will see progress. Who believes any promises a pollie makes? He would make an excellent car salesman.... Kyoto is a dead duck- why sign when the biggest polluters in the world are EXEMPT from emissions targets (China, India, Russia), and it expires in 2012 with a new agreement to be negotiated to replace it- an empty gesture but one that appealed to closet greenies sitting in their McMansions in air conditioned/heated comfort and other mod cons- give up their cars, will they?? ....

And I certainly remember Keatings banana republic, loss of credit rating, 34% youth unemployment/17% interest rates, wage freezes etc (all from a lab gov)- who also introduced HECs (that was not the libs!), and destroyed the higher education sector with mergers and funding cutbacks. I expect similar things to happen now.

Happy if my pessimism is proved wrong, but lab govs (now wall to wall, with 80 billion debt among them already) are renowned for big spending, big taxing style.

Honey Australia will never be the same! Australians have made a huge mistake. The only reason they voted Rudd in was because of their greed! Rudd claimed he would give more so what do people want? More!
You watch Rudd spend up big. He will destroy our economy and he will undo the wonderful work My Howard has done.
Progress! No REGRESS!

Yes, save your money hun because gone are the days of plenty!

I hope it all goes well, because its a great country.
I didn't vote for any of them as i don't like them at all, although i probably would have voted liberal if Costello was not going to take over sometime as i just don't trust or like him at all.
