Depending on what size V-8 you get , some of the small block V-8's can get as much as 16-18mpg's , but most of the ones that i had were in the 8-10mpg's ( most of them had a little modification) it also depend on if you have a 2 or 4 barrel carb , how big the jets in the carb are, there really are to many factors to give you a straight answer.Sorry

Fuel mileage depends on cubic inches and how much the car weighs as well as how what type of mods that have been done to it. My small block MOPAR used to get 12mpg when stock but with all the mods I've done to pump up the horse power, it now gets 4mpg. So cars in that era can get from 5 to 18 mpg depending on engine size and modifications.

My 221's (yes a V-8 Ford) got 18 mpg, while my 352 (barrel) got 8 mpg.
So it just depends.

depends on the engine.

a 289 ford will be decent for a V8

However a 460 Big block will make you stop every 50 miles for a refill.

Some can get 18 MPG maybe a little more, depends on your foot pressure. I would figure 16 MPG up front.
