(old) Landrover is like the Mini as they were both built by British companies with no appreciation of the British weather! :o). More often than not, the heater matrix has a blockage - the unit under the dashboard with the fans in it, which leads from the radiator and all the other water works. First start by cleaning out the radiator itself - and really clean it e.g dismantle and flush. Then ensure the heater matrix is also flushed as it can often get blocked with rust. Check the thermostat is ok and also that the air filter etc is clean. Amazing how easily 'traditional' mechanical parts can get dirty. Make sure that your fan belt is tight and not slipping and that the fuses/electrics to that (which cool the radiator) aren't broken. Ensure that there's no water leaking into the electrics (a common fault with most British Leyland cars let alone anything where the electrics were mounted at the front top of the engine rather than the back!). Check ALL the fuses to make sure one hasn't blown without you knowing about it, and above all else, best advice is to by a Haynes manual from a garage for the model/year of your Lanny...or even look through one at the library to see the 'common faults'.
