I'm 18, she's 16. We live in different states at the moment, because I'm in college. We've been dating for almost 2 years. Bu t recently her mom ( which never liked me to begin with ) found dirty pictures we sent to each other. We haven't had sex or anything, we decided to wait till marriage if we ever get married. But her mom wants to press charges against me for sending porn to a minor. Is my life ruined? Should I kindly go hang myself right now since my life and my career is basically over?

those people on dateline nbc get in trouble because they're strolling the internet looking for a random young girl. this isn't like that. this girl is/was my girlfriend, and she has been for 2 years. so there's a huge difference. but even so, the consequences might be the same. -sigh-

There is a new federal law pertaining to this... it is up to 15 years.

This really depends on if you're charged a state court system or the federal court system. It also depends on what you specifically are charged with (sentencing guidelines are set up by specific criminal charges).

If you do end up in the federal system, you'll more than likely do some prison time.

At this point, as hard as it may seem, I would try not to worry about this. You haven't been charged with anything and your girlfriend may not be considered a minor anyhow (this depends on what state she is currently in).

Please don't hang yourself. Depending on the state you're in, the sentence probably would be less than two years.

If her mother hasn't gone to law enforecement to formally press charges against you, you might go to her and promise never to see or contact her daughter again. It's hard to lose a relationship, but, in your case, it would be better than going to prison. You're still young and will find someone else. If you want to have any kind of sexual relationship, you need to find a young lady 18 or older,.

I hope you've learned a lesson if you get out of this jam .

i`m sorry this happened to you.. if her daughter can convince her mother to drop the charges then i think you`ll be getting charged as a sex offender..my daughter is in a similar situation and i wouldn`t do that to my daughters guy.. i respect my daughter and wouldn`t dis her in this way.. i feel for you.. good luck with the future mother-inlaw....
