They can receive IV fluid therapy through the vein in the tail, or the jugular vein or through a catheter directly into the heart. It can also be given as an injection under the skin or into the body cavity.

The only thing I've ever heard of is subcutaneous fluids being given, but no I.V's. They really don't have the venous system we do with easily accessed veins or arteries. Snakes get put under anesthesia regularly. They are intubated and given gas just like any other animal.

How would you hold it still? In all my years of reptiles i have not heard of it being done. Giving injections, blood being drawn strait from their heart, enema's , nebulized, gavauged, minor external surgery , palpitated and a few more but Ive never seen or heard of an I.V. or a snake being put under anesthesia. It may be possible but no vet i know has done it.
