I like being the designated driver. When we go out together I don't drink because I know I will be driving. When I go out by myself I know I will be driver then too so I just don't drink. If I do have a drink it is when we first arrive and I have 1 or 2 then I don't drink anymore that evening. We usually stay out in one bar for 5 hours and play the pool tournaments so I know 1 or 2 at the beginning of the night is safe. I love to watch how people change and I can go out night after night and don't get sick or a headache.

No, it does not help to have a few drinks....but I did not have to say that because I know that you know better!
Personally I do not care to be a designated driver any longer....because I do not like dealing with people who are acting the way I once acted....It is too painful a reminder.
Peace.

Sorry but I don't drink.
Been there, done that!
Didn't see the thrill.
Also, had a father who put them away and wasn't the nicest afterwards. I'm nothing like my father.
I'd be your designated driver, any day!

Although I never have been asked. I have had to go pick friends up from the drunk tank to take them home. Sometimes after trying to sleep off a couple drinks myself.

Screw alcohol. I'm above that.

Straight edge means I'm better than you.

However - if any of my friends were ever in danger of driving drunk, I would always be a call away.
