It's all well and good for someone to sit comfortably in front of a computer and profess how death by starvation is better than eating meat (regular, pets, or even human meat).
There are things that true starvation (not strong appetite, which is suffered after only a week or so) does to the brain that are almost impossible to morally override.
Until you are physically and mentally beaten down by starvation, you have no idea what you'd do in that situation.

My cat, or any cat, for that reason. It's just because I've grown up with them at every point in my life except for a two-week period where one got sick so we put it to sleep and we were looking for another one and we ended up geting two. Oh, and vacations. To eat a cat would make me feel very guilty. I couldn't eat people either. I would imagine Grandfather's lifeless face in Fever 1776 and since he's my favorite character in the book, eating a dead human wouldn't feel right. I mean, would you want me to eat you when you died? You'd be very dry...

Blowfish, no way I could cut that up properly. But if I was hungry enough, I'd eat you.
I'm proud to say I've eaten all kinds of animals, sea cucumber, snake, musk rat (kind of like a beaver) horse (it's nasty) rat (not a sewer one), camel (overlander steak house!) crocodile to name a few. Get over how it looks, if its edible it usually tastes good! Avoid carnivorous mamals, it's tough and chewy.

am not a vegetarian but hey, when it's time to go it's time to go. Maybe the question should be "would you really want to hang around if it's that bad?"

Human, probably.
As long as it was cooked, and did not look like it did when ALIVE, I could probably eat anything if I was that hungry.
