There is a difference between an individual choosing to do good, as is taught in Christianity, and forcibly taking from others in order to do good.
Jesus taught his followers to give of themselves and their own resources to help the less fortunate, he did not tell them to rob their neighbors to do so.
Beside, most charity goes to those in need, even large organizations, if they use too much for 'overhead' are charged with fraud.
When the government handles the 'charity', 80-90% goes for overhead and little gets to the recipients. Socialism does far more to benefit the civil service unions than the supposed recipients of the "benefits".
Given that most of our social spending is geared more towards legal vote buying than relieving any social ills, there's no reason to support socialism.
Also, the overwhelming majority of Republicans aren't Christian conservatives, the Christian conservatives are just so noisy it seems that way at times.

Actually, the idea that the Christian "Right" is the sole proprietor of the Republican party is VERY misleading.

They saw an opportunity after Reagan's election to claim that "they" made it happen!

In reality, corporate America elected Reagan to save money on taxes.

Many liberals claimed that George W. Bush was elected by the "religious fundamentalists" in middle America...
We now know that their information was further result of the same kind of false boasting.

GW Bush's approval ratings are still directly linked to America's fear of terrorism and want for National Security.
The "religious right" only claims him when he's up and denies him when he's down...

Its just a club to join, so you have an excuse to work out your anger by persecuting others who do not believe as strongly.
Not saying all Christians are this way, but many of them are.

Christianity is NOT about state socialism. It talks about marriage, yes, but marriage is a joining of TWO people, not a whole society. It talks about choosing to care about others, but not using the government to force you to care.

You have a warped sense of Christianity, and a warped sense of how the world works, too.

If you are forced to do good works, is that really good works, or is that actually just slavery. Think about it.

Propaganda of religion is what they use. What most of them are is confused .Support of war no regard for are own is not Christan. Bringing realign into government is dangerous the creators of are country knew this when they put into a document seemed to be ignored today called the constitution of the USA.

Not all conservatives are Christian, or is that difficult to understand.

Also please remember that we all believe in separation of church and state as far as not having a national religion established for us.

And we even believe in freedom OF religion instead of Freedom FROM religion, if you can see the difference.

And by the way I may or may not be christian, I may or may not be religious. But then that would be my own personal business.
