Go to Best Buy and give it a try. If you have some friends who have a 360, ask them if you can borrow it for a couple of days to try it out. I lend my consoles out to people all the time.

Either use a friends or rent one from somewhere like blockbuster or find a game shop that has one for testing. I recommend renting one since although it might cost a little, you will be able to see how it feels in your room and if its comfortable. Where as with the other two options its not as easy to tell.

I have a 360 and from personal experience I would say its definitely the best console around, I've always been a PlayStation man and never owned the original xbox but the 360 is amazing and defiantly worth the money.

Try a friends, or if no luck there, your games shop will let you try before you buy!!
It's actually good to try them, as you say to see if you're comfortable with the controls etc... I've always had PlayStation's and was thinking of buying an Xbox myself, until I tried my friends. The control pad just didn't fit my hands right, and felt really weird. I asked her if I could borrow it for a couple of days and am so glad I did, as I hated it and just couldn't get used to it.
What a waste of money it would have been if I had bought it.

borrow a friends or play one in shop or at friends house.
xbox360 is best the controller is more like the playstation but more comfortable to hold..
xbox 1 is good too but you can play xbox 1 games on the 360 premium version.

if not just buy one and if dont like it sell it on eBay
keep it in great condition and keep packaging only play it once or twice if don't like sell it.

you can usually find demo consoles set up in games stores and if there isn't tell a shop assistant and they might let you have a go, they all have one upstairs to play the new games when they come in

See if any of your friends will let you come and try it out at your house.
