10 days ago, I had an emergancy c-section and delivered my little man at 34.4 weeks. He had one foot that is clubbed. He is still in the hospital by hopefully can come home early next week and his doctor at the hospital is going to set him up an appointment to see the pediatric orthopedist about his foot.

Does anyone have any experince with this. I have looked up lots of info on the web. I am just wondering how long the treatment takes? They said his will more than likely have the cast done?

Please anyone help, I am really freaking out, I just hope that he will be normal and I know lots of famaus athletes have had it and are fine, I an just really worried about my little man!

I just worried about it hurting him. I have read that they will massage it and then stretch it and cast, Does that hurt?

With the miracles they can do these days you shouldnt worry. I was in hospital with a lady whose son was born with a club foot. They managed to fix his up just fine. She was a mess for a while as being in the hospital with other babies whose feet were fine must have been hard to deal with.

Just know that as long as your little boy has parents that care then he will have the best outcome for his foot that is possible

Hi there!

My husband was born with two severely clubbed feet( The top of his foot touched his shin on both feet). His treatment lasted until he was just under 2 years old and he required casting that had to be replaced very frequently. His case was the most severe the doctors had ever seen so his treatment was very aggressive and in-depth. Most cases don't require this much treatment. Has your baby seen the orthopaedic doctor yet? Sometimes they will have one come see him in the hospital to set up a plan...Since babies bones are still very soft, the treatment doesn't take long and it doesn't hurt the baby. It sounds like your case is maybe a little bit more mild....in any event, with treatment, your baby will learn to crawl and walk normally. My huband even ran cross country in high school and it's hardly noticable when he walks. His orthopaedic doctor was so proud of him!

Your baby will be fine! Just be sure to take good care of yourself.

Try not to worry. I know that is next to impossible right now.
I teach kindergarten a child in my class used to wear a brace on his foot for some time up until he was nearly 3. Now, no brace, no limp. His older brother was in my class and that is how I came to be friendly with the family. This child is absolutely fine now. He runs and plays with the other kids and again- no limp. I don't know how severe his was but there is hope. If you didn't know him back then, you wouldn't guess that he had this issue as a baby/toddler.

Good luck and you guys are in my prayers!

I realize how stressful this is for you. That said, don't freak out! Your stress is transmitted to the baby. Your son needs you to be steady and calm.

Your son's condition is very treatable. You are the bedrock that his life is built upon. If you are strong he will do well. Just remember he needs your love whether or not he's "perfectly" healthy. Remember all of us are born perfect.

my stepdaughter was born with club feet. She is going to be five soon and runs around, dances and is just fine. Just make sure you keep up with all the appointments and follow all the doctors directions (I am sure you will) and your boy will be just fine
