It depends on the type of elder abuse.
For physical abuse call 911 immediately.
For financial abuse, call an Elder Attorney, immediately.
For mental or emotional abuse you will need a Mental Health Specialist.

Or
You can call Adult Protective Services. You'll find it in the Government pages in your phone book.
Or
You can call the Agency on Aging National Hotline at 1-800-510-2020. Your call will be directed to the office nearest you. There are people in that office that can help you or give you a referral to the proper agency, but I think they will be able to help given the situation. They have Case Managers that do this type of thing and follow-up.

Report to your local Human Services.

They should have a unit for the elderly.

Call the police and they will investigate along with Human Services.

Keep it quiet. . . .what I mean is don't let the abuser know what you are going to do because you don't want him to know who reported.

It is imminent that you report right away.

In my state it is against the law, not to report abuse of any kind.

You must do it now before more damage is done.

Very good question.

The Adult Protective Services division of your local human/social services department. Should you not be able to find that department, check into the Office on Aging...OR call the police who do know to whom to report it.

There should be links in the phone book. Look under state, city and federal programs. They can talk you through your problems mostly over the phone after getting all the information they need. Don't wait for you problems to escalate either, do it now. The more you wait the worse the problem will be.

The huge type must be listed under "County" Depts on your telephone e book.
