Two years ago I got in to a car accident. I was going to work and I wanted to poll over in the side of the road so i slowed down in the process a car struck me in the rear. So i moved my car on the side of the road. While the other car that struck me left his car on the road. 4 minutes later another car came and struck that car that was standing in the road. But that car never touched my car because i moved my car on the side of the road. Now two years later that car that struck the car that was standing on the road is sueing me for 500,000.00 dollars saying i stopped in the road and he struck me, which he never even touched me. The other problem I have is that I don't have insurance. This is my first getting into a car accident does any one have suggestion as to what I should do?

Why are you driving around without insurance?? It is stupid and against the law. You are putting responsible families in dire financial straights by doing this.

I hope you lose.

It would appear from what you are saying that this car's owner is hoping to cash in. the figure you are quoting sounds like an insurance figure where most people would have insurance for the public liability side - Its all about proof really. Was the police called - would you have their paperwork a police report or can you get it. The police report will clearly outline what occurred. Next off to a lawyer to sort it out. it maybe that the lawyer will send a letter quoting the police report and stating you had no insurance at the time of the accident. Don't panic young people always get the raw deal because some smarty pants thinks they can make a quick buck exploiting them. Its always scary recieving letters quoting unimaginable amounts of money but the facts are you were not insured at the time, you are young and have no assets and the police report will tell the story.

was anybody hurt? Usually when people are wanting to claim this type of money someone was hurt or killed.

1. Find out (through a accident report) if the guy behind you reported the guy that hit him.
2. Find out if the guy that hit you had any insurance to start off with. (maybe that is why the third guy is coming after you)
3. Do the other two guys have the same insurance co.???
4. Counter-sue the third guy for 750,000.00!!!!!
5. Make an application to the court to have his suit dismissed on the grounds that he has no valid claim.
6 Find out (through the courts) if the third guy is also suing the guy who hit you. (Maybe he's just trying to cover his bases....If he is, there's your reason to his claim against you dismissed)
7. Find out(maybe from the police) if the guy who hit you even has drivers license.
8. If it is OVER 2 years since the accident, and you have not been sued over this before, check the date of the accident... Guy no.3 would have had to file in court to get permission to sue you, due to the 2yr statute of limitations...
9. Take all mail and " return to sender"!!!!!

Hope that you had sense enough to get information from everyone involved in this accident; Their insurance carriers, their driver's license numbers , their marker plate numbers and then reported the accident to the local police so that it would be on record. If you did not have accident insurance coverage at the time, was the person who hit you covered? from the facts presented, think you had better get a good lawyer.

hopefully there is a police report. Normally the car that hit you fom behind is at fault. You need a lawyer . You also should have personal and property insurance .

I have noticed some insurance companies and people always try to find someone else to place blame on. Sometimes people will hunt for someone to pay because Insurance companies will not pay even for things they should. Sounds like you need a lawyer.

Get several copies of the police report. If that says there was no contact between your4 vehicle and the vehicle of the person suing you, think of the word counter-suit. Nuisance lawsuits are actionable in most of the U.S.
