I try to keep up with it on an everyday basis.... I have a "routine" that works for me...
In the am I go into the bathroom and wipe down all the surfaces with an antibacterial wipes.. Counters, sinks, toilet, door handles.. Clean the mirror... Once a week I gather all the towels, rugs and wash/replace. Also, once a week I scour the tubs/tile surround/toilet(s).. Sweep/mop the floor(s)...
I try to do a full load of laundry everyday/night.. Just to keep up with the ever growing pile...
When I make breakfast for the kids (ages 1 and 3) I unload/load the dishwasher and wipe the counters and appliances with antibacterial wipes.. While they eat I will dust/vacuum the livingroom.. When they are done I clean up their dishes and sweep the floor... Once a week BEFORE trash day I give the fridge a going through and get rid of any expired food. I also mop 2x a week or more...
While the kids play I will make the beds and put laundry away.. Tidy up the bedrooms.. Once a week I change the bedding. I vacuum everyday...
Keeping up with the housework makes my "free" time less cleaning oriented... Also, my husband helps while I'm working in the evening... The kids are also responsible for helping pick up their toys in the evening BEFORE bath/bedtime.... Good luck

My wife cleans once a week, usually on Sunday. She picks this day because she has no errands to run. She doesn't have a set schedule but she tells me this day is more convenient over other days. Sometimes during the week ( we both work) she'll tidy up or do a quick load of laundry so it doesn't accumulate in the hallway or hamper. We're empty nester's so it's only her and I and were not home most of the week.

I have three children who are with me mon -fri so I spend everyday straightening up but thursdays I spend the entire day sweeeping, mopping, dusting, and doing laundry. this way the next morning when we all leave for the weekend its good and clean and I am happy it stays that way for the two days LOL. One a month the curtains are taking down and cleaned and teh furniture is pulled away from walls and cleaned underneath and behind.

I spend 1/2 hour twice a day cleaning. That keeps up with most of it. About once a month I tackle a bigger cleaning project. This keeps my house usually presentable but seldom spotless.

I clean about two weeks after it starts to look like a bio hazard. I suppose that's a type of schedule...
I've even vacuumed twice since May!
