A 31 year old man and a 23 year old woman. 31 year old is divorced twice (from the same woman) and has a 2 year old child. 23 year old woman is moving 2 hours away to go to law school for the next 3 years. I think I know the answer but I just want to see if I am being just a giant pessimist? guy wants to do it and I just don't think it is going to be good or work for him or myself.

Long distance relationships DO WORK.

It takes a lot of work and trust but they do work.

You can visit each other on weekends.

I lived 2 1/2 hours away from my NOW fiance. Every weekend I was free, I went to visit him. I did that for over a year.

Plus, the times they are NOT in college, could be spent with each other.

But like I said it takes TRUST and work for a long distance relationship to work.

I've been with my fiance for five years in March '08. Getting married June '08.

IT COULD WORK!

That age difference is pretty large, and that means that you both are in completely separate stages of your lives. He probably has a stable job and since he has kids already wants someone to settle down with. As for the girl, she wants to go to school, which means no time for the guy and more time spent focusing on your career which he might not even be interested in.

It could potentially work but the chances of it happening are slim.

You have got a long distance relationship and a 9 year gap.

Of course it _COULD_ work.

Is this LIKELY to be sustainable? No.

Certainly it would take a lot of dedication and work on the part of both parties. Rare to find these days.

I'm feeling pessimistic about this one... You are young, and should sow your oats while you can! If you want to continue the relationship, go ahead, but I would make it clear that you will be dating other people. Don't tie yourself down!
