Fact x out of the first pair of terms, then 5 out of the second pair of terms.

8a+3a= 11a?
or = 11a^2

and does -1+-6= -5? or -7?

answers 11a and -7
11a comes from addition of LIKE terms

-7 comes from addition (of like terms too), but is slightly more fundamental/basic than the previous problem.
[Additionally, I would add that the second problem would look a tad better were the -6 grouped: -1+(-6) = - 7]

(a-b)(x+5)

ax - bx + 5a - 5b
x is a constant in this case

= xa - xb + 5a - 5b
=(x+5)a - (x+5)b
=(x+5)(a-b)

good luck!
