Most black eyes heal completely and do not cause any damage to the eye. Treatment may include:
cold compresses to the eye for the first 24 hours
warm compresses to the eye after the first 24 hours
continued compresses until the swelling stops
keep the child's head elevated to help decrease the amount of swelling
It is important to know that the swelling and bruise may appear to spread and go down the cheek or to the other eye. This is normal.

Just put ice on it every once in a while. It'll take a week or more before it completely heals. I've gotten about 3 black eyes in 13 years and ice is the only way to go!!! But depending on how really bruised it is, than I would say a week maybe even up to 2 and a half. But it should go away soon. Good luck!

First, how did you obtain that black eye? Did someone punch you? Did you have an accident? It's important to know because the different causes have different treatments.
Assuming that someone punched you, it would be important for you to go to the doctor, just to ascertain that there was no serious damage to any of the internal areas of your eye (including the bones that surround your eye, and the nerves and blood supply that supply your eye). At home management should include an ice bag left over your eye, to reduce the swelling (although, in the past, people use to place raw beef, such as a piece of steak, over their eyes).
I hope this helps!

There really is no treatment, you have to let nature take its course, if you are young it will be quicker, if you are dark skinned it won't show so much. It will take at least 3 days and up to a week.

1] ice compress for 20 minutes at a time, four times a day for two days or so.
2] ibuprofen OR aspirin [ not both ], for swelling/pain
3] I got one this summer from falling on the edge of a canoe -
it was stupendous and lasted about six weeks [ bruised fron brow to middle of cheek bone ].

Some advocate an ice pack, but when I had one I didn't put anything on it. It went away in about 5 days.
