There is a battle for dominance going on that you seem to be unaware of. Ask her point blank why she insists on burying the book under old magazines. Maybe the cover is offensive to her in some way. She doesn't want to look at it, so she buries it. If the two of you can't work this out, your roommateship is doomed. And yes, it normally would go center if there's nothing else on the table of significant size. The key here is visual balance. Perhaps the resolution is to put the book off to one side of center, with a few of her magazines fanned out on the other side of center. Balance. Feng Shui.

On my coffee table in the living room right now are the Bible, my church directory, and 3 magazines-1 is 'Woman's Day' and the other 2 are 'Country'.

Well, there is an interesting mixture of magazines and books. I see a Field & Stream magazine next to a Harry Potter book next to a crossword puzzle magizine next to the TV Guide. We're an a electic bunch to say the least.

None. I was never a fan of projecting books as pretty things meant for decorations. I use a book case.

All storybooks and I can read books for sharing with the grandkids. I keep my books in the office and the bedroom while they are staying with us.
