I am going to replace this handle but it has a small rivet in the bottom. After I grind it out Do i have to replace it when I put the new handle on? Also can I grind this one out with an average drill and bit or will it ruin it? thanks

Just drill it out with a regular high speed bit enough for it to loosen the head, then re-rivet it or use a small bolt, nut and lockwasher.

I just replaced my passenger door handle in my Silverado 2500, I chiseled off the head of the rivet and knocked the rivet out, and like Paul said, I just stuck a small bolt, lockwasher, and nut on it. I also pulled that metal panel out enough to get the chisel on the threaded end of the bolt behind the nut, and messed up the threads so the nut can't back off from opening and closing the door.
