I am not going to look this up so I am going to give you the best answer I can. Glass HAD to be something else before it becomes glass that can be used for windows, and glasses. Glassblowers heat the mixture and create glass products (doh) I would say it's a ground up synthetic material or if not synthetic, it might be made out of some stone like obsidian or mica?Very good question. THESE are the questions I like. Ones that make me THINK.

superb concept on the question, I shall reserch greater in to it interior the previous, eyeglass lenses have been made completely of glass; today, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, maximum lenses are made up of plastic. Plastic lenses are lighter, do no longer smash as unquestionably as glass lenses, and could be taken care of with a filter out to maintain out ultraviolet mild, which could be detrimental to the eyes. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, glass lenses are greater resistant to scratches than plastic ones.
