Can a business owner design his own products? If I were the owner of a video game company, would I be allowed to write the story of the video games that that company makes?

Actually yes. And thats not a bad arrangment.

Ive worked in the PC games industry and I can tell you that game programmers usually have to be helped with the areas that they are no good at (and dont care about). Such as, writing help files, writing advertising info about their game that makes it sound good, graphic art, sound files, music, etc.

If you found programmers with a good game idea and they could actually program the game to work then chances are that the storyline would be half a sentence. :)
