Would you be willing to pay more in taxes to fund public orphanages for all of the attendant unwanted children? If not, are you willing to concede that you will eventually be forced to pay more in taxes anyway in order to incarcerate those unwanted children from poor backgrounds who, without a stable, loving family to support them, will almost certainly turn to crime? If so, can you admit that you would rather pay money to have human beings enslaved in cages like animals?

No one, so far, is answering the question:

Would you be willing to pay more in taxes for publicly funded orphanages? Or would you rather not and just wait until these children grow up to be "criminals" that you can then pay money to have incarcerated?

It's funny...so many of you hurl about the term "lib" but, on this issue, I am actually an orthodox Roman Catholic. I do not support abortion at all, but before I would deny anyone their right to handle their business their own way, I would offer a suitable alternative (i.e. professional, state-run orphanages/learning academies where these children could be educated and indoctrinated in positive, socially-conscious values). Of course, that alternative would cost money and, by and large, most American conservatives talk a good game when it comes to "choosing life" but none of them are willing to help pay for it...though they are willing to bring their states to the brink of bankruptcy to construct new prisons...

I say public orphanages or help pay for adoption costs. But then again, I'm not conservative.

It's a false question. First, orphanages are normally funded privately, not by government. And, yes, I would be willing to donate more to pay for more orphanages if necessary.

However, today, there is a serious shortage of adoptable babies, and a large supply of parents who would be thrilled to adopt.

Your arguments are empty. And even if there was an ounce of truth in them, it wouldn't be enough to justify abortion. Whether you support abortion or not is all about whether you believe that the baby in the womb is an individual human life. If you do, then saying it's ok to abort is like saying it's ok to kill live children if they aren't adopted.

Think before you speak.

Enough kids are in foster care. No one can force someone to bear children. I dont agree w/ still births however RU 486 is a great alternative if you can catch the pregnancy w/i the first month. Its the most humane way and terminates in the earliest stages possible.

No i will not pay more taxes. We already support enough free loaders w/o having to pay for future criminals and mental cases.

Does medicare cover abortions now? How are tax payers paying for abortions? Its pretty pricey and i sure didnt get any help with my decision or costs. ( i did get harassed at the clinics by little old men claiming to be there for god) My insurance (when i had it, *sigh*) didnt cover it.

Im very conservative, but abortion is a very personal issue. I dont agree with my tax dollars funding abortion clinics for one reason and one reason only: If you lay down and have sex, you should be the one paying to abort a pregnancy not me. If your underage... then your parents should have to fit the bill for it. As for forcing anyone to adopt out their child, or have the child... I believe abortion is a very personal decision with far reaching consequences psychologically.
It should be a carefully considered decision between a woman, her doctor, her parents, and the other party if he is involved.
We dont live in a perfect world unfortunately. And this is a topic that polarizes people because it is so very personal.
Politics has crept into it because so many people on both sides of the issue have felt so strongly about it.
I say... if you keep it legal... make the party or parties involved in the abortion pay for the procedure. The rest of the consequences are on the person's shoulders who had the abortion... between that person... their own conscience, and God.

Of course I'd be willing to pay more in taxes for children. That would be tax money well-spent. I'd be willing to pay more tax money for high quality orphanages and foster parents.

As far as incarcerating kids from "poor and unstable backgrounds..." well, that's a pretty broad generalization to make about the poor... AND, generally speaking, "unstable - types" aren't usually the ones lining up to get abortions...

Wow. That's a... weird outlook. Sorry. I don't share your outlook.

Also.. if a person commits a crime.. by their choice.. and then they get a prison sentence... how is that being "enslaved"?

There are plenty of people willing to care for these children and a resounding yes to have them live I would pay money in one way or another.
So many childless couples would be willing to take these babies, and many would donate their time to care for these children rather than kill them.
We are already spending our tax money to keep murderers alive. Why don't we reverse that and kill the murderers and let children survive?

Between the morning after pill, modern birth control and God forbid a little personal responsibility most abortions are unnecessary any way.
The people both male and female living on Govt handouts have no business having children in the first place.

There will be no such thing as a total ban on abortions anyway.

And whats wrong with all of you people who are for or against it stepping up to the block of responsiblilty and stopping having unwanted babies?! For crying out loud just stop having sex if you don't want a baby or at least use some reliable birth control. Something that guarentee's at least a 99% chance of not getting pregnant and then use it!!!! This isn't just a young girl thing either, many older women are having unwanted babies. Get responsible and we won't have this issue!!!!!

Your question almost seems as much a slam on poor people as it does on those who oppose abortion. You make it seem as though making abortion illegal will be the sole cause of overpopulation, and an increase in crime, and completely absolve those who act irresponsibly, of the consequences of their actions. I would give money directly to the orphanages if that meant less abortion.

How could you live with yourself knowing that you didn't allow another person to live.. how have you enjoyed your life?

I know it's tough for a lib to do.. but imagine if you were that unborn child.. Could you imagine not being able to live the life you've had..

What choice do people have to say someone can not be born.. there's too many wonderful things in this world to see and discover. Rather than be greedy and thinking of yourself, you should be willing to share the world with these people. Not stop it before it happens..
