This question posed considering a $750 rent allowance. Also, is it feasible to live in Rosarito and work an 8 hour day in San Diego? If working 8 hours, what would be the total time if driving and border crossing are included? Thanks.

Crossing the border in San Ysidro/Tijuana is terrible right now. Time anywhere from 1 and a half hours to 4 hours. With a SENTRI pass the time is less but pass holders have reported an hour wait at the SENTRI lane. There has been talk of opening a new commuter lane at Otay mesa but its still talk after two years. Regular crossers are going to Tecate.

Standard of living in Rosarito is fairly high, all services, food, medical, etc. Safety is always an issue, but locals ignore problems, choose their commuter time carefully, don't drive at night or early morning hours.
