I travelled in Western Europe for a month, Czech Republic for 2 weeks and Britain for 4 months. I enjoyed it and learned a lot, but I never thought of settling there. Africa is my home. I missed the vibe and the people, and the chance to make a difference in my community. I found Europe too orderly and established, although it was beautiful. And silly as it may sound coming from a white person, I got claustrophobic with all the whites in Europe! One exception was Berlin, which was vibey and cosmopolitan. In the same evening I met people from Russia, Iraq and Ghana. Also, the mountains in the country areas of Switzerland were impossibly beautiful.

I've done both. The first time I went to Europe I was 17 and was given a one month Youthrail pass and $1000 as a graduation present from High School.
The second time I went to Europe, I lived there for 3 years. I played piano in bars at night for tips and played my guitar on street corners and in subway/train stations during the day. I also got the occasional gig with a travel agent pushing groups of tourists around because I can speak 3 languages.
The Last time I went to Europe, I was an adult, working for the U.S. Government and I lived there 10 years.
My days as an ininerant street musician was the most fun if not the best paying.
