I have heard there is a Sentri pass which makes it quicker but there is a long processing time to obtain one. Can one live in TJ and drive to the border, walk across, and take the trolley? How efficient is this? If working in SD, which is the best method?

If you cross the border on a regular basis by car, apply for the SENTRI pass as soon as possible.

Walking across is sometimes fast but sometimes not. If a tour bus heading north pulls up to the border ahead of you, everyone in the bus has to empty out and walk across to clear customs, and that takes a lot of time. And this happens quite often.

I don't think parking near the border and walking across then catching the trolley works so good if you are parking on either side of the border, as lots of cars get stollen from that area.

Most people I know who are driving north in the morning just leave from home in Tijuana real early and drive across.

Don't know why you'd want to live in TJ - but I'd probably walk across and take the trolley. Do you realize that you have to have Mexican insurance to drive in Mexico? Your regular won't cut it. There have been some serious crime issues lately in TJ - more so than usual.
