Hi, I am having trouble putting the spring loaded clamps back on the dryer motor to stabilize it. I took out the old motor and am installing the new one and everything is perfect except I cannot seem to get these clamps to stretch far enough to clamp the motor in tight. any ideas on what to do? do i need to buy new clamps of can i use the old ones? thanks for any info.

If your motor uses the springy steel U-shaped clamps that snap onto projections on the motor mount base. Here's how I have gotten them to snap into position. If there is a little hook like projection at each end of the U-shaped clip I engage the slot on one side of the U-shaped clip to the motor mount, then I stick a big screwdriver into the recess of the little hook-shaped part and push down real hard (or use a hammer) and the U-shaped thing snaps into place. I'm not certain if this is the type of spring clamps you are talking about; if not, try posting a photo of the parts.

I've changed several of them and the only thing I could come up with was to hook one end of the spring clip and put the other end in position and put something on the curled up end and knock it down with a hammer.
