Piece is a large scenic piece on 16 count aida . . . how do I add on another piece correctly? Overlap a couple of stitches?

Honestly, there is no good way to do this. Adding on another piece of fabric will always show a seam. Is the part that's not finished essential to the piece? If it's scenic, then leaving out a few trees or rocks/birds probably won't matter; would anyone notice?

Do you have enough aida to stitch the rest of the pattern? If so, you could cut the other sides and add a good quality cotton fabric to the edges before framing or making into your pillow or whatever it is going to end up. then it would look like you did it on purpose. I think no matter how you added aida to it, it will look unfinished and not give you a quality finished look.

I feel for you with this!! I once made a huge deer in the woods in the snow cross stitch and I had almost finished it when I dropped a pan of undercooked brownies on it! After painstakingly cleaning it, you couldn't even tell.

I hope you can get this to work for you!

I have always been afraid of this happening to me, but I guess I'm just lucky. What I would do is butt up another piece of fabric., and try to baste it together but so it comes out flat, no overlap, because it would make a lump along the seam. If you have a sewing machine, I would zig zag it. I have made holes in my fabric taking out stitches, and I backed the hole with a small piece of cross stitch fabric, and that worked out pretty well. I hope you understand what I mean, and I hope this helps you.
