This year I think we'll spend about $10 per person in our extended family and maybe $50 in our nuclear family. We used to draw names in our extended family and spend about $75 on the person who's name we drew and get a $3-5 stocking stuffer for everyone else. Some people found it difficult to buy a $3-5 stocking stuffer so we switched.

Christmas shopping is difficult for me because I'm in college and barely have enough money to pay my bills as it is. I also have a lot of people to shop for. This year I plan to stick to a budget of around $20 per person or less, possibly a little bit more when I buy gifts for my boyfriend and little sisters. Christmas is about being thoughtful, not about how much money you spend.
