I've tried putting salt and cat litter behind/around all four tires, zig-zagging the wheels and many other ways but the car just seemed to slide back to its original position. I know there are physics involved and I tried finding the most efficient technique but nothing worked. In the end we had to get half my neighbors to help us push. Anyone know how to tackle my little scenario?

if the drive way isn't to far raised you can get two wheels off to one side of it,and that will help,we have did that a lot before, living on hill you sort of get use to driving on slick surfaces, but if you can get two of the wheels off the driveway without it damaging anything that will work ,it has for me several times, good luck.

Perhaps you need a media which has more grit than cat litter. May I suggest ordinary sharp sand which is used in masonry work, not the sand which is spread on the icy street. As a last resort either sand will do but washed masonry sand is the best.

Get your driveway covered in cement and have ridges put in it while it is still wet. Will give your tyres something to grip on. Or try snow chains? Try not to park it in driveway when the weather is going to be freezing. Or take the bus on freezing days. No instant solutions tho. Sorry.

in case you kept it floored it truly isn't any longer solid. It also gained't help you get in or out spinning the tires like that. go basic on the throttle and also you'll get better traction and it truly is a lot less puzzling on your vehicle.
