It would solve the problem of overcrowding and we could bring troops home. I'm not talking about the rapists and murderers. Tax evaders and criminals like that.

Oh, I didn't understand your question at first. I thought you were talking about putting accountants in a ring and making them fight to win freedom! LOL

Actually, it's not a bad idea. Anyone who committed either a property crime or some white collar crime would benefit from the discipline of military service. But boy, I sure wouldn't want to be a prison guard over what was left in jail!

I almost misread your question. But I don't think the current troops would like it. Then again, it could reduce crime and prison overcrowding.

It depends on the circumstances. Maybe the military will beat the criminal mentality out of some of them.

So over all, I would say no.

It is a rare known fact that stuff like this is actually happening. Certain prisoners are allowed to enlisted, and while they are serving it cuts down on their prison time and cuts their sentence down.

Although it is not being widely used yet, but I do hope it will be soon. :D

As a way to pay their debt to society? Perhaps, but I think I prefer the best trained, fully volunteer, Elite fighting forces we have now, rather than have them integrated with the dredge of society.

I thought you meant open the gates to the prisons and mow them down with machine guns as they try to run away. That would definitely reduce overcrowding.

No, I would want to trust the person next to me in battle. Why don't you serve?

What makes you think they would fight in George W. Bush's unjust war?
