In this forum (politics), I find myself looking for aswerers who can express themselves well, who do not condescend to others because of what THEY believe, and believe it or not, I like to read long answers that make sense.
How about you?

(I also dislike those who "label" others, such as 'liberals' 'conservatives' and MOST OF ALL
I had being called a "DUDE"
mainly because I am a female.)

I look for the best answer regardless of opinion. The person that best answers my question get best answer. I would let you see but somebody wanted to go into my questions and report everything that I answered so I had to make it private.
To answer your question: For the most part they choose the one that agrees with their statement or the one that supports their question.
For the record I'm not trying to be a kiss @$$.

I tend to ask questions in a vague manner just to get an air of what is on people's minds. I don't like to sway opinion by the way the question is asked or expect any one kind of answer. I like an answer that supports it with some facts to base it on. This kind of answer sometimes puts things concerning the topic in perspective. I'm not looking to see who is more conservative or liberal, I like answers that really don't lean either way.

It appears most are looking for agreement. However if one provides a good argument from the other side and has data to back up the argument they could get a best answer vote. But, generally it is just for agreement.

I look for depth, intelligence, balance and information from an answer.
That said, I am probably as guilty as most questioners: I often select a "best answer" as one that is most closely aligned to my own perspective. -RKO- 11/24/07

I have 581 best answers and to my knowledge, exactly one was from a questioner I disagreed with. That one really impressed me. The rest are all looking for affirmation.

I pick best answers based on the content of what is said.
Incidentally, girls can be dudes too.

I pick whoever answers my question the best. If not, or if there are many good ones, I put to vote.
