Thoes who have gone through a Divorce, How much did is cost you? and how long does it usually take?

Anywhere from $500 to $30,000 depending on if you have kids and how much you want to fight. We didn't fight at all and my part of the cost was around $2,000.
The amount of time depends on the state, mine has a 90 day waiting period but took a year total for various reasons.

I did my divorce myself and got fee waivers because I was recieveing state help at the time. (food stamps/medical) And it only costed me the paper fee of $25.00. But it also depends on the divorce and what all you have tied in to together. The longer yo have been together and the more things you have the more complicated things can get and the more costly it could get to. Good Luck

If it is an uncontested divorce with no lawyers it isn't too bad. But if you have to get a lawyer and are fighting over things, it can get up there. My mother spent 15,000.00 and my father about the same. But they both had over priced expensive lawyers. And that was with out minor children.

Too much, I've never been through one, but they are too expensive, and not in financial terms, I'm talking about in terms of if you have kids, how damaging a divorce is to the kids. So that's why I say too much.

It varies from state to state and whether or not children are involved. Every lawyer is a different price. If no children are involved then about $200 for paper work and filing for yourself. Mine took 6 months with one child involved, that's only because we both agreed apon everything.

We'd been married 19 years with three kids and owned property. We were amicable and used the same lawyer and got by for $1000. If things are going to get nasty expect for each of you to spend $4,500 and up.

we did pro se..it cost $500..we filed in may and were divorced in oct...
