Chocolates are discarded just because they are mis-shapes. Do people really care what shape they are? Why aren't they being sold as mis-shapes? Or given away? Anything rather than waste valuable food resources as fuel? Corn, too, is being used as fuel while people are going hungry.

When I was a kid, I'd travel with my Grandpa down to the Hershey plant to get a truck load of off-spec chocolate. We'd grind it into our livestock feed. Perhaps they don't do that anymore for liability reasons. Damn lawyers!

I read the Telegraph on line every day but I never seem to find the same articles! As a chocoholic I can't believe that mis-shapes are being used for fuel, it would break my heart to go to the local garage and fill up my car with 'chocolate'! I personally don't care what shape the chocolate is, only that there is plenty of of it! Thank you for reminding me, I have a bar in the fridge which will go very well with my glass of red wine - luxury, chocolate and red wine!

You need to be careful with buying this type of chocolate. I bought some misshapen chocolate years ago, bits with nuts and raisins in them, and they tasted disgusting!

There is a Cadbury's factory outlet shop near me, and another shop that sells near out of date, and surplus stock chocolates from Europe for £1 a box. They are still good quality but not as good as what you would get elsewhere.

The best bargains are at Thorntons, after Christmas where approaching out of date chocolate can be bought at half price.

I don't actually like too much chocolate anyway so I tend to avoid it.

You can buy mis-shapen chocolates and bisciuts in several shops. The problem is they don't specify what brand they are and this puts people off.
Talking about dicarded food there are food mountains as big as houses of stuff that will not be distributed because of beaurocaracy. It is shocking considering the amount of people living in poverty.

I don't care what shape my chocolate comes in as long as it tastes good.
I'm more shocked that the chocolate ends up in the landfill, could they not give it out on the NHS to us pre-menstral women to make us feel better. It can be classed as medicinal.

My car wouldn't get very far if it was fuelled by chocolate, miss shapen or otherwise!
