I just don't get why you people are happy to elect a left-wing communist and his red-headed clown sidekick to run our country! Are things really going that bad for everyone?
If Labor has failed to run the states, how do you expect them to run the country?.... ah, that's right.... we'll get someone who has no experience and a wishy-washy fake-ass smile, give him a team of radical unionists, a bunch of tree huggers, Muslim lovers and unemployables and let them have a go.
Good luck morons. Guess we'll see you lining up at Centerlink next year.

To all you IR whiners, if you were any good at what you do you'd get the rewards you wanted. It's the lazy Labor attitudes that see you unable to negotiate a good deal in your workplace. It's not the Governments’ responsibility to provide you with your dream home, private education and dental care. Pick up a book on Personal Development, do a course to better yourself and become an asset to your employer.
Mandii & Ergot W.... I’m not a religious bigot! Actually, I believe that God is an imaginary friend for adults. My point is that Australians should not accept people who refuse to learn our language, tell us what we can’t do in their country but want us to accept their ways in ours, and nurture terrorists. Since Muslims fit at least 1 if not all 3 of these points, they were chosen for my opening statement.
And finally, I am absolutely amazed that no one made any reference to me calling Julia Gillard the “red-headed clown sidekick”. Looks like we all agree on something afterall!

Whats done is done. whilst I agree with the sentiment "are you kidding?" its over and we just have to lump it. There is a few positive sides though,
I am looking forward to only having to pay my employee's award rates, with unemployment so low I found I have been paying on average, 20% more just to get good people. I dont mind that because with good workers my business flourishes. when unemployment goes up, more people apply for my jobs and I can pick who I want and only pay award. I'm going to save a lot of money and if you voted labor, you only have yourselves to blame.
When Rudd (Dudd) doesn't deliver, (like ALL Pollie's) we can call him a liar just like he called Howard.
And finally, When interest rates and unemployment go up I am so looking forward to saying to all the labour voters
"TOLD YOU SO"
Okay, that's out of the way, Lets all move on and play nicely. Most of all, I hope I am wrong.

The Liberals had done so much damage to this country and all they can talk about is the economy. The economic reforms of the Hawke/Keating Labor Governments are the reason why everything has been scooting along quite nicely for the Liberals. That and the happenstance of the current mining boom. A drovers dog could have run this economy, anyone with any sense can see that.
The ALP of the 21st century in the global economy (which we're a part of, thanks to Keating)
Howard insulted my intelligence and after 11 years of insult, my intellect and compassion could take no more from this divisive man, we needed a new leader with intelligence, and compassion, a leader with a vision of making Australia the best it can be.
A vote for Howard/Costello was a vote against democracy, you don't even need to be politically aware to know that.
As for Peter Costello .....If he had any spine at all he would have challenged Howard
He did't have the numbers in caucus.......He was all tip & no iceberg......He spent the last 11yrs in a hammock
Paul Keating was right!!!!!!!!!!
He's a low altitude flyer
http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=aaLLP4sc_6...
I voted Labour , because I wanted a strong economy [ Like the one that Paul Keating set up during the 80's & early 90's.]
John Howard & the liberal party were too involved with the religious right [Exclusive Brethren ] & GW Bush
..........John Howard was mean , tricky & desperate.

Kevin Rudd is not a genuine person. The Kevin 07 image was created by his spin doctors and speech writers. He is the prisoner of the left wing union bosses who will demand favours for the 30 Millions Dollar election contribution. Soon the union bosses will present the demands and Kevin Rudd will pay for it with our tax money. Inflation, interest rates and unemployment will rise. The education revolution will be a chaos, the housing affordability will be lower than ever and our future will be dark as night. But this is democracy and we have to accept the wrong decision of the gullable people who voted for Kevin 07. Who would think that Sir Winston Churchill would loose an election to a left wing solicitor Clement Attlee just 42 days after victory over Nazi Germany? Who would think that after nearly 12 Happy Howard years people will vote for the false image of Kevin 07? I just hope that Kevin Rudd will be voted out faster than Clement Attlee was voted out in the UK and John Howard will make a Churchill style comeback.

Sorry, but get over it. If we have a recession next year, it will have been caused by Johnny and his 11 years as Prime Minister.
Oh and the wording of your question is one reason why many people voted for Labor. Australians actually spell 'centre' as in 'Centrelink' c-e-n-t-r-e, not c-e-n-t-e-r, that is how it is spelt in America. I know Johnny wanted us to head down that route, but fortunately Kevin will save us from having to live in caravan parks and working for $4 an hour.

Awww, diddums lose the election, then? What a shame!
For heavens sake get over it .. they Liberals will get a turn again one of these days if they show they deserve it. You don't have any entitlement to government, any more than Labor does. And honey, if your life ever depends on recognising a communist from 3 feet away, you are gone, becuase anyone less communist than Rudd would have to be a Liberal, and there would be Liberals more left-wing than he is.
"muslim lovers"? geez, where did you get that one? What are you talking about?
I look forward to a more equitable and forward-looking government under PM Rudd, and if you can't be part of that, hop out of the way, becuase it's coming.

This "Moron" works shift work and has a family and mortgage. Shift penalties make up to 42% of my wages, your heroes want to take that away from me. So i took away what they need to support their families sounds a fair deal to me. How anyone who works for a wage in this country could have kept those vampires in power for 11 1/2 years is what is far more beyond belief than what you are whingeing about.
Oh wait are you a small business looking to clean up on others labour for no pay?
And also in this country we say fake-A.R.S.E smile because not all of us are yank-loving synchophants who fawn over and go into orgasmic rapture whenever the eagle shits.
Added to original post.
Time will tell if it was the right thing or not to vote out this stale, arrogant and smug old-school party. Why don't we come back here in 12 month's time and have this conversation again..... most of the comments from the lib supporters are just those of bad losers venting... except for those like mramazing who shows some maturity in defeat, congrats to you as a person sir.
The basic question posed was WHY the MAJORITY of Australians voted the way we did, which I have answered above from my perspective. Welcome to democracy brothers and sisters, sometimes it sucks and sometimes it is soooooo sweet.
Look at it this way, now your billionaire-head mal turnbull can use his money to buy his way into the leadership of the opposition for a couple of terms. The upside of this is that he will have to actually DO something in opposition and we can then see how capable he is in the real world. Unfortunately for the Libs, this Andrew Peacock wannabe (my turn to use an Americanism) is about the best chance you have of winning back the power.
Remember too that when it comes down to it, they are ALL politicians, enough said.

The only good thing we can take from this is that when labor messes things up they won't get a chance at the next 2-3 elections after that.
I agree with MichaelF 'The only good thing we can take from this is that when labor messes things up they won't get a chance at the next 2-3 elections after that.' It is so true!!

Look, there isn't a more parochial Coalition supporter than me. Face the facts, we lost the election and now Mr Rudd is PM. I don't like it, but we have to get on with our lives and ensure that the promises, that were made, are kept and that Australia remains the "Greatest Country on Earth".
Mr Howard was very gracious in defeat and I appreciate the respect shown by Mr Rudd, in quietening down the boos and jeers, when he honoured Mr Howard and his service to Australia.
Mr Howard will go down in history as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, PM's that we have seen in Australia. We are yet to see the kind of PM that Mr Rudd will be! I ask all of the Coalition supporters to show due respect for Mr Rudd, and the position that he now holds, as PM of Australia.
We can't do anything about the result and must now accept that Labor won handsomely. I won't congratulate them on the win, but I accept the result and accept that it was the people's choice. I will always show respect for the Office of Prime Minister of Australia, no matter who the incumbent may be!
You appear to be a sore loser but, there is much worse that you could be.... an extremely bad winner. Yes Labor won, but this doesn't mean that we, Coalition supporters, need to endure the name calling and abuse, because of the win. The few immature entries that appear above me here and the person asking the question, really need to review what it is to be a "good sport", the election is over and we all have to accept the decision and show each other the respect we would have liked to receive, if the "shoe was on the other foot".
chetonline: Your attitude is what Conservative supporters fear most. Immature abusive know it alls that never lived in a society that had extreme unemployment, extremely high interest rates and had children in extreme poverty. What I have described to you just now is what Australia endured under Keating and Hawke. If I am able to accept that change has occurred and that I'm willing to show Mr Rudd the respect that he deserves as PM, I expect you to do the same for Mr Howard. Mr Howard is gone now and you have the Government that you wanted. Be happy with that! I hope for your sake that things really do improve under Labor. There'll be no opportunity for blame, if things don't improve, now will there? I'm being fair in my willingness to give them a go. Be a good sport and win graciously. Mr Rudd did last night!
Trin: I take it that you;
only listen to Australian music!
Never watch an American TV show and say
"Biscuit" rather than "Cookie" and
NEVER EVER say "Dudes".
"Chips" instead of "Fries"
Hypocrites take many forms don't they?

I think Wayne D said it perfectly it is only poetic justice for all those have lost their jobs, penalty rates and leave loading that Howard should get the same.
See there is justice in this world for the little people.
Now all those businesses that say they love Australia can either leave and go offshore good riddance if you go I am sure there are plenty to take your place or stay in this great country and pay their employers what they are worth.
