Most times I go over to France on Eurotunnel the customs guys sweep a weird small brush thing over the steering wheels of random cars. No idea what its for and neither have any of the people Ive taken over.

And today they seemed to be doing it over the door handles of some cars. Weird.

Anyone have any idea?

I would say they are looking for explosive residue. An explosion would be a mega disaster in the Euro tunnel.

Most likely it involves the kind of sophisticated sniffer technology that can detect people who have been handling explosives even if they are careful about hand-washing.

they are looking for trace amounts of explosives. I got pulled into the 'shed' and they actually hoovered my boot. me being me, i asked what they were looking for. they also took a sample of my fuel. this was to check for red diesel.
