Yeah, it kind of sucks. Dancing is a pretty expensive sport; you have a hundred dollar shoes, thirty dollar leotards, ten dollar tights, twenty dollar lessons et cetera.. And they all wear out quick if you're dancing intensively.
I learn dance for a pretty low price.. My dance studio offers classes for $7 per 45 minutes, which is pretty good. Have a look around at the smaller, less-professional studios, they usually offer lower fees.
I know that I'm going to get a job soon so that I can start paying for more lessons.
Also, think about doing a few lessons in different styles of dance. Not only will this help to improve your technique and experience, but most studios offer a discount.
Best of luck with your dancing!

Videos are a great way to learn how to dance and they are cheaper than a class. Although with those you don't get the personal guidance. If you are looking for just fun I recomend videos but if you are looking for perfoming or competing I would recomend a class and unless they provide you with everything that's where things can get really ugly with prices like dresses and quality shoes.

Ballroom Dance Channel has a bunch of online video dance lessons. They aren't free, but they are only $5, which is close. They have one for wedding dances, but there is another one for swing. Actually they have quite a few dances there. Hope that helps. And congratulations!

Depends on the type of dancing you want to learn. Alot of community centers have relatively cheap classes.

Good luck! All the dance classes that i have ever taken were expensive. So when I graduated High School my parents told me if I wanted to continue them that I had to pay on my own. Very expensive, unless you know a friend that had already had them that can teach you.

Community colleges. They usually have evening classes that you can attend without having to enroll as a student. The reason tey are able to keep the prices down is they don't have to cover the cost of rent from your class fee.
