This planet will probably end in around 5000 million years when it is swallowed up by the Sun. However, by then it will have been uninhabitable for several billion years already, probably from about 1000 million years from now. It could also have been destroyed by an asteroid by then, but this is unlikely.

Concerning the Universe, there will probably only be a large number of stars for the next 100 trillion years. After that, a few stars will appear from time to time when brown dwarfs (bodies too big to be planets but too small to be stars) collide. In about 1 million million million million million years time, almost all atoms will have expired. After that, the Universe will be a dark, cold place with black holes floating around and swallowing each other up very occasionally. These will evapourate through a process called quantum tunnelling. After that, the Universe will be empty as well as dark and cold, except that at extremely long intervals of time, random collections of matter will come into being. This process will continue forever, assuming there is not enough mass in the Universe now to force it to collapse in on itself.

The future of the planet is closely tied to that of the Sun. As a result of the steady accumulation of helium ash at the Sun's core, the star's total luminosity will slowly increase. The luminosity of the Sun will increase by 10 percent over the next 1.1 billion years (1.1 Gyr), and by 40% over the next 3.5 Gyr.[117] Climate models indicate that the rise in radiation reaching the Earth is likely to have dire consequences, including the possible loss of the planet's oceans.[118]

The Earth's increasing surface temperature will accelerate the inorganic CO2 cycle, reducing its concentration to the lethal levels for plants (10 ppm for C4 photosynthesis) in 900 million years. But even if the Sun were eternal and stable, the continued internal cooling of the Earth would have resulted in a loss of much of its atmosphere and oceans (due to lower volcanism).[119] After another billion years the surface water will have completely disappeared.[120]

The Sun, as part of its solar lifespan, will expand to a red giant in about 5 Gyr. Models predict that the Sun will expand out to about 99% of the distance to the Earth's present orbit (1 astronomical unit, or AU). However, by that time, the orbit of the Earth may have expanded to about 1.7 AUs because of the diminished mass of the Sun. The planet might thus escape envelopment by the expanded Sun's sparse outer atmosphere, though most (if not all) existing life will have been destroyed by the Sun's proximity to the Earth

Well... thank you doctor "the universe" for explaining what you watched on T.V. Might you explain that before the earth is destroyed by the sun, that you also tell them that it is roughly about 5 billion years away... and that humans will more than likely be planet hopping by then...

The real threat in the near future would more than likely be a NEO... Near Earth Object... In 2004, we had a astroid come really close to earth... and it will come even closer the next time... the end of the earth could very well be with in the next half century... Say perhaps 2039...

And God does exsist, but its like a boy and his ant farm... you don't interfere you just watch... so don't give me that crap...

well , according with the mayan's calendar the world will be end november 21st 20012, but thats just a theory because they're only talking about the end of the old era, wich means that after that date , it will be another era...as i said....just a theory....

they also talk about " quetzalcoatl codice"...in my opinion we are not gonna die..we're just gonna go through alot of changes and new things , dont worry , there's nothing to be scared...

another theory is the overwrming of the planet , because if this happens , then the sought and north poles will melt and huge icebergs will travel till warm waters ...then the level of the water will grow and then millions of ppl are gonna die ...

for now....eat cookies and love ur mom ...and thank god coz ur alive right now....

The sun will explode and kill everyone on earth in about 5 billion years. Luckily, that won't be in our lifetime.

Do you mean your world? or the world around us?
Your world ends when you choose it to, but the world around us will end when god chooses it to.
