Yeah, then they changed their minds after the ships had already left and headed to Hawaii. The ships said, no thanks and keep going.

If the Commander of the carrier was surprise to this event then the motives to deny entry to Hong Kong port by chinese authority were probably top level security issues. China has long been known for their lack of trust toward the west. Think of it this way, if the chinese authorities can keep track of every american disembarking to a liberty port, suspicion might dictate that is best to deny access. Which they did unless they have a manifest of everyone coming ashore. It helps to keep espionage and civil unrest to a minimum.

Perhaps they were afraid, and thinking they were next on our list after Iran? Thanksgiving being the day, makes no difference to a communist, since, what do they have to be thankful for?
Even if we get an explanation, you wouldn't believe it would you? I wouldn't since their choice of government goes against everything ours does. China is not Americas friend.

Is it necessary to blab to the world why such things happen? If a port is part of a country, all are, than that country reservs the right to deny entrance to anyone they want for any reason. The arrogance of some Americans to think we should be able to dock war ships any where we darn well please when we please has to end.

While I am not happy that they denied the ship the ability to dock the reality is that China is showing the US that, for the moment, we need them more than they need us.
