Depending on the size of the tree....cut 4 boards from 1x2s or 1x4s. appox 14 to 18 inches long. And this is going to be hard to descirbe. They will stand on one edge. Place them in the floor so that each piece is going in 4 directions. Leg, 2 will butt into leg one(approx 4 inches from the center end) and leg 3 will butt into leg 2(approx 4 inches from the center end) and leg 4 will but into led 3. This will form a box opening in the middle where all the legs spread from. You can adjust the size of this hole to the size of the tree trunk. Nail the wood together and nail them to the tree trunk. You will need more than one person so you get the tree standing straight>
You may have to use some wedges to shove around the tree truck into the opening of the stand to stablize.
If this doen't make sense, email me and I'll draw you a diagram lynarts@flash.net

You will need:
Dimensional lumber
Drill
Hole saw or large drill bit same size as eye bolts
Opt: Eye bolts, 6" or more, at least 4, 8 for more stability
Old pot or bowl
Screws
Procedure:
Make a 4 sided frame large enough for the trunk of the tree. For minimum stability, you will need to drill 1 hole in each side of the frame and screw in the eye bolts. They will hold the tree up. Repeat again for greater stability and stack the frames.
You may forego the eye bolt step if you only plan to use this one year, in which case make the frame just big enough for the bottom diameter of the tree, at least 4" high and leaving enough trunk (a couple-few inches) for the bottom to stick out for a pot of water (or your tree will die and shed needles within a week). Best to make the bottom part of the tree that sticks down just as tall as the pot is deep, so it can run through the whole pot of water before beginning to dry out (less watering).
Next, make something to hold the trunk frame and connect to it. It must be as tall as the original frame plus whatever pot you use for water, and stick out at least 6" from the original frame. There are a lot of possibilities here... from simply 4-8 pieces of wood with a 45 degree angle cut on one side to connect to the inner frame to produce a sort of triangular shape (very stable) to an entire "box" connected to the inner box.
Good luck!

OK, I'm your problem solver. Here you go: Get a good size 1 gallon flower pot and some quick crete. Use vaseline around the shaft of the fake tree then insert into the flower pot. Mix the quickcrete and put around the shaft or base. Prop up into a corner until the crete hardens and the tree will stand on its own in the hardened concrete and then after Christmas, the vaseline will allow you to pull the tree out. :-)

Answer one has EXACTLY the least expensive; fastest way to accomplish the task.
Of course if you wanted the tree in any water you'd have to modify the base.
You could modify the base anyway if you have a piece of PVC pipe large enough for the tree trunk.
Build the frame/stand as she suggests but attach it to the pvc, then determine either capping the pvc for water or adding a shallow bowl under

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/10WEn
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

I'm a guy, and personally, I don't like long nails. We know a lot of like long, painted nails cause they're "so pretty", but I don't like them.
