I'm watching a movie called "the secret." I'm thinking about trying the theory that if you just believe in what you want, just imagine you have it, it will come to you. Your supposed to thank God for what you have every day, but also keep your eye on the goal with positive thoughts along the way.

Does anyone know if this theory has worked for them?

no stupid answers please =] thank you

in a way, i believe the basic theory works, the old "fake it till you make it" concept, if you think positive, concentrate on what you want, you will more tend to start acting in the way of a person who either possess the thing or knows the thing is possible,
i dont think its so simple as just wanting, and then sitting back waiting for it to come,
you are expected to do your part
here is a simple example, but it can apply to many things
i want financial security, i believe i will have it, i think each day on it, i then tend to watch what i spend, volunteer to work those extra hours, i put my goal in the front of my mind, and it starts to influence my actions, which bring about my goal

The Secret draws on ancient theories, practised since time began. Norman Vincent Peale wrote of them in The Power of Positive thinking, which helped many. Napoleon Hill, after interviewing hundreds of successful individuals, wrote many books on the same topic. The one that has helped me most is Hill's You Can Work Your Own Miracles. My copy is totally dog-eared and has been carried from coast to coast in my limited travels, along with Shakti Gawain's Creative Visualization.

When I inherited a small sum of money, I divided it between my three adult children, and sent it to them along with a copy of 'Miracles'. The cash helped them a little, but I doubt that the book did any good. One must be totally open to suggestion when reading this type of book.

I still believe in the theory, however, and have replaced my old copy of 'Miracles' with a newer one. Use The Secret in good spirit, and you'll find certain benefits. Not perfection, of course, just a better attitude toward life. That has value in itself.

"Think positive thoughts and positive things will happen." Be well!

What you speak of is not a secret. What is old is new and it will forever be. What you speak of is a western gimmick that can, in certain given environments, work for some. Have they shown the people who the "secret" has not worked for?
This is old wisdom. Be content and grateful for the abundance some of you may have.
If you focus your own energy entirely on something you seek. You may find the path you pursue. But be wary of your intentions.

Well, I believe that things don't just "come to you". You have to work for what you want in life. There would be no point in life if you didn't have to work for what you want.
