I place an even higher value on peace, human rights, and a strong American economy than I do on meaningless blather about "supporting the troops" or on a show of patriotism toward a country that--at this moment in its history--fills me with shame.

I don't support the troops, although I do pity them.

I'm not sure how to avoid "losing" a game you can't win, except to get out of it. It's called cutting your losses. I missed something--does the Republican party have a plan for winning? If so, where is it?

As far as "saving" the troops by prolonging the war--all I can say is, oh, brother.

Why should I care more about the life of an American who was foolish enough to sign up for this insanity than I should for an Iraqi child?

I'd vote for a Libertarian or a Martian if they could beat the Republicans. They can't, so I'll vote Democratic.

The party that got us into this mess isn't going to get us out of it.

The best way to support the troops is to bring them home and provide them with the education and skills to make wiser choices in the future.

We need to educate people to identify their real, God-given talents and use those talents for the betterment of humankind, instead of leaving young people so educationally deficient and economically deprived that they think the military is a good deal.

Since most of the troops vote Republican I'll support them by doing the same. In 2000 Al Gore ordered his lawyers to try to get as many military votes as possible disallowed. Knowing that Democrats try such dirty low-life tricks, I'll vote Republican to make up for a military vote that Democrats didn't allow to be counted. For you to say you are voting Democrat in order to support the troops is a sick joke. Democrats are doing everything they can to force us to lose a war, and this means more of our troops will die than if Democrats really supported the troops. Senator Webb even voted to not send supplies for our troops in Iraq while his own son was there, and you call that support. How sick...

Voting Democrat is supporting the mindless ant-war protesters, not our troops! It took me a few hours to put this together for a question on mindless anti-war protesters:

I started to answer this question by saying how antiwar protesters should be in jail for treason, but our jails are already overcrowded. This made me realize what a big problem we do have: if we achieve our future victory over terrorism tomorrow, and half of our troops (100,000) return home within the next 50 days what will/can we possibly do for them? The VA still has new young veterans on waiting lists to even be seen for a future 10 minute appointment. Many of our local hospitals are full, with some emergency room patients sleeping in the hallways, and their costs for sleeping in a hallway are still astronomical.

Ask someone that was at least 16 in the early 70s (when the Vietnam veterans came home), ask them about the bowling alley brawls, the drive-in-movies, or how fast the local bar would become a war scene with just a few young and physically fit, angry and very bored young war vets (and that was the least of their problems…). Back then some of these guys were in and out of jail, but back in the 70s some of these "incidences" were almost "cute and humorous". Presently our society could not handle just half of our troops returning home, even in victory! I am actually glad our prisons are overcrowded. A money hungry politician would probably advocate for the release of convicted criminals just so their prisons district could make much money billing the VA for housing such a large amount of veterans…

You stated, "i could see no longer helping the conflict, it truly is comprehensible, yet why could you no longer help the individuals battling and dropping their lives over there?" i imagine the problem is that the human beings that do not help the troops can't see the bigger image and are unable to split the adult adult males and women human beings battling the conflict from the guidelines that further the conflict. i imagine, in case you are able to get the individuals with the indications affirming "do not help the troops" to imagine about the individuals and not in any respect the coverage, you would locate that extra human beings help the troops than do not.

I will continue to vote Republican for any office in Washington.

The Dem's have proven that the only thing they care about is claiming to have stopped the war so they can win the White House, regardless if it is best for America.

I will also continue to serve in my American Legion Post and send donations to Disabled American Veterans and The USO.

And if had my health I would have gone back on active duty in 2001, but with 2 stints in my heart I kinda figured my active duty days were over.

I married one, well actually, I married him before he was a Marine, but I supported him in his decision to enlist. We've been married 8 years and he's been deployed for half of that time. I also don't buy those little yellow ribbon magnets, I support our troops by spending money on items that mean something to them. I've sent care packages to many other troops other than my husband, and I always throw something in his packages that he can share with others.

Um, would that be a vote casted for the same Democrats who said the war is lost? Or would it be for the ones that called our troops murderers and rapists before they were ever tried or convicted of anything? Or would it be for the same Democrats who want to sell out our country and the security and soveriegnty of our borders for a voting block?
Hmmmm.
If thats a patriotic party, Im the Pope of Rome, and I will be giving mass to the patriots....to try and save some souls... both before and after the election!

Just because you disagree with the current President's policies, and he happens to be a republican, doesn't mean that a democrat President will suddenly right all the wrongs in your little world. Here's a thought: why not vote for a candidate that actually wants to win wars; that would show some patriotism.

Great support. Fighting a war without the necessary equipment will be a big help to the troops. I'm sure they'll appreciate your "support"

Are you going to the local Military base to pat them on the back while you smile and tell them that it's not their fault that they didn't succeed? Bet you don't.

I support the troops every day. I live in the Middle East and work on a military post. I do everything I can for all of my brothers and sisters in uniform every single day.
