Because my daughters worked while in high school, they got cars after getting their license, but they were NOT brand new BMW's, Mustangs, etc. The cars were used hand-me down family cars, ie: '65 Mustang, '83 Datsun (Nissan) B-210 and/or '69 VW Beetle. As parents, we felt it necessary because of no public transportion where we live. Although the girls used the cars, restrictions were placed on them until they became 18, hence 2yrs driving experience.

Most girls have a sense of entitlement for a new BMW or Mustang convertible for their sweet 16. How about a Porche 911 Turbo?
Your speach shows you're probably writing from a Western or American country, not a poor African, Pakistanian or Amazonian country where they would might have to actually walk to the pedicure shop.
How would you like an orange 1978 Datsun B210 with 150,000+ miles? or would you not be caught dead in one?

Don't know about now a days, 10 years ago when my daughter was sixteen, her father bought her a used car.And when she was foolish enough to drink and drive and get arrested for it....she learned a very valuable lesson that day about how lucky she was that she did'nt get hurt or hurt anyone. She paid her dues in community service and never got another car from us.She earned her own money always and now 10 years later she has had a great job and drives a brand new mustang that she paid for.Just because someone is 16 does'nt mean they are ready for driving.

Thats what soem people believe but so many girls either
a) can't afford the car, at least not right away
b) can't drive or aren't interested in driving at 16
or
c) they're parents don't trust them with a car or don't feel they need or deserve a car
For example, only a few of my friends got cars on their sweet 16, or even money to put away for a car. I know I'm not going to...

Maybe those who live in Belaire...

My younger bro got a certfied-used BMW for his 16th.

I didn't get my first car until I was 21, right after I graduated tech school. It was a used 1991 Subaru for getting to and from work.

I have never been jealous of people's cars for some reason. Love life? Sure, but their car? Nah.

NO!! the ones you hear about are the ones on TV which if you havent noticed are filthy rich. Besides who wants a car like that for their first vehicle, you wont be able to drive it til ur like 17, and ur more likely to get into an acciedent.

I got a black Range Rover for my sixteenth birthday. I have had it for 2 1/2 years now, and for college I am thinking of buying a champagne colored BMW convertible for myself. It just depends on your parents or how much you are willing to spend.

OMG!!!

When I was 16 I got a 1979 Pinto stationwagen and was HAPPY about it.

Most kids do NOT get a car at 16, if you do, you better appreciate whatever kind it is.

Not regular girls, no. I had to work to buy a used Buick to drive, and pay for it myself. I think 'giving' a kid a BMW for their birthday is nuts. Make them work for it. Nothings for free in life!
