Being a guy its a little hard to answer but if I were a girl I would figure the responsibility was on me to quickly check out that guy and see if he was interesting, or had any potential, and how I acted would go from there. If he looked dorkly, I'd politely ignore him. Nothing hostile, no reason to hurt feelings. If he looked interesting and I were a girl I'd sort of shyly make eye contact with him and smile. I guess if I were a girl I'd check out how the guy was dressed as well as his face.

Pretend that you did not notice, but be polite and find out things about him for later, so that if you do want his attention the next time you can let him know you might be interested. But pretty much you are to play Hard to Get. Don't let him get too close to fast or he won't appreciate you later. After all if you show affection too soon, you were too easy for him and he will get bored and move on to a harder conquest.

Smiling back is always polite. If you are interested, then say hello. If his checking you out is offensive, then ignore him altogether. He should know that this means your not interested.

Depends on your interest in the guy checking you out....if you are interested, wink or say hello to him. If this is someone you are not interested in, give him a dirty look or ignore him and keep walking.

If a guy is checking you out, I suppose you ought to do the same. In a perfect world I would like her to come up to me and tell me that I am insanely good looking.

There is no set answer. Everyone is different as is every situation. A smile goes a long way. If you are uncomfortable, then a glare should do.

that is entirely up to the girl as to how she reacts some are flattered some are grossed out some just plain do not care one way or the other so it is a personal thing
