I can not for the life of me find this stamp or set on any webpage and I can't find a value for it either. Does anyone know where I can find this stamp or what it's worth?

It sounds like a postal Commemorative Society first day cover. They for some years mainly in the 1970-1990's first day covers of famous people and events with the real stamp and then one made of 18 or 22 kt gold. There is not enough gold there to make it Worth more than, I guess now .25 cents and that is plus or minus. I have seen them on on line auctions for as little as a $1 and up to $5. I guess it was based on who or what was the subject more than anything else. Back in 1996 I was offered 2 albums of all different ones that had 200 in one and at least 150 in the other for $100 for all. Collecting coins and loving history I bought them. I may have the same one you have, but I can' get at them easily for they got buried. I hope this helps.

Have you tried a pawn shop? Or even a jeweler might do an appraisal on that.
