Yes, jixer's got the favourite. The amber light is just doing its job, warning you there's a problem with the airbag circuit and that, 9 times out of 10, is a dodgy connector under the seat. It doesn't mean that the 'bags are about to explode . . .

Does your vehicle have dual airbags (driver and passenger)?
Regardless of yes or no, I would be very cautious while driving the vehicle. On my vehicle, the amber lights indicate that both airbags are not armed. This means that they will not deploy during an accident. With the advent of computer controlled systems, it could be just a malfunctioning light. Whatever the cause for the light, please be careful while driving. Good luck to you.

Have you moved the seat recently?
The most common reason for the lamp to come on is due to a loose connection under one of the front seats. The seatbelt pretensioners are part of the seat belt stalk.Moving the drivers or passenger seat forwards & back over time causes a bad connection. Not a big problem to fix.

Sometimes if you have the seat to close to the wheel or "an unacceptable" seat/wheel position this can cause the lights to come on too. I.E you are too close for safe deployment.

also the quote about the seat wiring harness can be common too.

jixer has it down to a tea.. open the connection under the seats and then plug it back in again try it for a few times and that should sort the probz out ;)

Did you recently hit a mileage milestone? some manufacturers have it come on automatically to ensure you have the system checked out.

Should be something in the manual to indicate what it is - possibly airbags need regassing??
