well my family is huge and i am one of the youngest out of all the nieces and nephews. so before i was born all my aunts and uncles were paying for their kids needs. so they started a tradition. all the aunts and uncles draw a name and that is the only niece or nephew they bought a present for.

well now that i am 14 and all my older cousins are off in college, they made the cut off date 14 instead of 12. but now all the 14+ kids get money donated to a charity in their name.

i dont like this. i was mad when i was getting one gift but now NOTHING!!! and i get to watch my bother and sister get presents for years after!!!

is this a fair age and idea!!!!! i hate it and so do the older cousins but none of the aunts and uncles listen to us.

what do you think???

and PLEASE dont tell me that this is not in the spirit of christmas cause we have suffered enough with this one present child thing and now this!! we are pissed.

i mean all i can think of is that the aunts and uncles should stop getting presents for each other (things my parents NEVER use) and stop getting a million presents for all my cousins boyfriends and girlfriends and put the money towards presents for the cousins!!

If I had a bunch of nieces and nephews I'd just get all of them small presents that aren't expensive. I don't think it's fair to only give one of them a present. I have a large family too and we all get presents.

And no, I don't think it's very fair to change the age like that. But at least you're getting money to give to charities and help people out. =]

You certainly seem upset about this. I understand what you are saying, and is if fair - probably not. Your brothers and sisters received gifts and you nothing; that is not fair. But that is not up to you. It is a gift, not entitled. What I don't get is if they can donate money in your name, then why can't they give you a gift in place?

Like I said, it doesn't seem fair. But be grateful that they are thinking of you for Christmas.

In my family, all the adults get one gift (each adult buys for one other adult). Then the aunts and uncles buy one gift for each niece and nephew. We have a big family so we find this works well. We feel that the children should enjoy being kids and getting gifts. When they turn 18 they no longer receive the gifts but instead join the adults in their one gift per person trade.

Possibly, could you suggest this method. This way all the children get gifts and money is saved by the adults getting one gift each.

What ever is decided, you should be grateful regardless. Christmas is not about the gifts.

Wow, you sound really greedy and selfish.

Sure, I think it's a good age. You are still getting presents from other people probably. And anyway, at this age, you should be more concerned with buying OTHER people presents instead of getting them for yourself.

Get over it.

If I had nieces and nephews as selfish and greedy as you and yours, then I'd have stopped buying you presents long ago.

What a selfish person you are.

I hope whoever drew your name gets you coal.

In a big family, this is the way it works. It goes the same way within my husband's family. Thank God because there is no way I could buy all of the gifts for my children, and for my 12 nieces and nephews.

Quit being selfish, seriously.

You. are. selfish.

Christmas is about giving and your concertrated on receiving!
Grow up. Open your eyes and realize that if you want something you just shouldn't expect someone to give it to you for a holiday.
