I'm 21 and good looking and I really need a second job. I'm sort of feminist and I don't really like the idea of walking around in sexy clothes and getting paid for it, but I think since it's not stripping or anything like that, then I could probably handle it. I work odd hours at a cleaning business during the morning and early afternoon and that's why Its hard for me to find a second part-time job because it has to be at night. I was thinking a restaurant would be my only option--I can't really handle insane places however like coney islands though, because I was bad at it. Should I give it a try? I don't plan on working there forever but I heard they make GREAT money.

I'd appreciate input from any actual hooters girls--I'd also like to say that I'm liberal but I'm not an extreme feminist. I believe in doing what you can to make ends meet as long as you're comfortable doing it and not harming yourself.

There are alot of Franchise restaurants that you might also want to try - Applebee's, TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays, etc. As for Hooters, it sounds as if the atmosphere may eventually get to you. Hooter's "hook" is, as you said, good looking women walking around in sexy clothes. When you mix that with alcohol, the environment can become rowdy. I agree they probably make better tips than other places, but is the stress or potential aggravation something you are willing to deal with? You are the best judge of that.

Lets face the facts, if you work at Hooters, or a place like that, men will think of you as a sex object, and it probably would be degrading for you. Why not try an upscale restaurant. or something like a golf club. Instead of no respect, you would get proper respect, and even sometimes even a good move toward your future. Working in the bar scene isn't all its cracked up to be. You would be gawked at, and not always treated respectfully, and work late hours that might cause problems with your day jobs performance. Mix men and alcohol, a long day at work, and women in hot short cloths, and it is disaster waiting to happen.

If you are a feminist you might not be happy working there. You don't think the guys go there for the wings, do you? You'll be ogled and flirted with. There are plenty of other restaurant chains were you can make good money as a waitress.

If you have to ask if its bad then you must not feel comfortable with it. The opinions of people on yahoo dont matter, its what you think, your the one who's gonna be doing it.

Don't listen for them, your job there is to be a waitress, nothing else. If you don't feel comfortable there then don't stay there. But it doesn't hurt to give it a try?

one thing's for sure: you don't have to be a good waitress to work at hooters.
