spiders in my room need help?

first spider i ever seen in my house in like 8 years and it was on my shoulder and scared the hell out of me i think it was white or brown but down know cause i killed it to fast but it was like the size of a half dollar coin or a little bigger, i live in oakland CA and i reallly wanna know what that spider is

White spiders are garden spiders, and I have never seen one indoors. Black or brown spiders are just common spiders, I don't know if there is another name for them, but they live everywhere and this is almost certainly what was on your shoulder. If the body alone was the size of a half dollar, and it was hairy, it may have been a wolf spider, although they are usually only in garages or bathtub drains.

My best guess, is that it was a Wolf Spider. they are active hunters and do not build a web to entrap their prey but actively hunt them down, thus the name. They are a very fast spider, and can be found wandering around homes quite frequently. they are not dangerous to humans, however a bite from this spider can be painful. They rid your house of many nasties that you really do not want crawling on you. Killing this spider was something that you did not want to do. They do a lot more services to you than you could even imagine.
